Team

I collaborated directly with founders Alec Blume and Micheal Ferris to translate their shared vision: a true Irish-style public house in the western suburbs of Chicago, into a complete brand identity. Drawing from my Irish heritage, I approached the project with a deep respect for authenticity and craftsmanship.

Process

The creative process began with research into 17th- and 18th-century Irish brewing culture and traditional public house signage. I used these references to develop a modern yet historically grounded brand system, from the logo and type to custom illustrations inspired by early printed woodcuts.

The color palette drew on Ireland’s earthy tones, deep greens and soft ambers, while the typography balanced old-world charm with a contemporary sensibility. I extended the visual identity across beer labels, coasters, and pub collateral, ensuring every touchpoint told a consistent story of heritage and hospitality.

Results
A modern brand that is tied deeply to its history and lore.

The new brand established Blume & Ferris as a standout among local craft brewers, known not only for their authentic Irish-style beers but also for their refined visual identity. The cohesive system reinforced the founders’ vision: a place where story, tradition, and design come together with every pour.
